Preface: Lifting the Veil

Welcome, friends, to the Book of Onyx. 

There's a Zulu proverb that goes: "A person is a person because there are people." For so long, I've put an enormous effort toward living my life as an individual. I relegated the import of society as a collective. However, as I journey across the chasm separating my true self from my prescribed self, I've learned that community is as personal as it is communal. 

Thank you for being, it is through you that I become.
